Jenny I can understand you feelings. I think there has been so much "hype" over the older Felicity's that when you actually have one, you tend to feel disappointed. They are very beautiful, but I guess when you get so excited about something, sometimes when you get it, it doesn't live up to your expectations. Does that make any sense?

I would give it a few days. Maybe you just need to get used to her. I saw the auction you won by accident and she is really pretty. If you do decide to sell her, I might be interested. Just let me know

I have a PM Felicity (1991) and she has wonderfully rosey complexion. (My PM Samantha is very dark skinned and my PM Kirsten is totally colorless.) I agree with you guys about their hair being harder to work with--Felicity's is rough and almost coarse (I also think of it as a dark red, not a red red).

Anyway, I think you should give her a few days, in case she grows on you. If she doesn't, re-sell her. It must be disappointing, but it isn't worth having a doll that you don't truly love.
(It took me several years to realize this! Last month, I sold an AGOT that I never "bonded" with and I have no regrets.)

Actually, this Felicity has perfect hair. It's really soft, and nice. NO frizzies. I was just looking at her again, and it is really quite a bit more red than my Mattel Felicity.

Kim....I still like the bodies and face shape of the Pre-Mattels, better. I suspsect it is a sentimental thing with me. But, yes, anticipating something, and then finally getting it can be a let down.

Em Are, your dolls sound completely identical to mine! I too have a 1991 Lissie, and her facial coloring is gorgeous - rosy lips, rosy cheeks, just perfect. My PM Samantha also has very dark skin, and my PM Kirsten is also colorless. Our dolls must be long lost sisters.

I also agree on the PM hair being coarser and harder to work with, as well - my Samantha has lovely ringlets that look gorgeous, but are quite stiff and coarse to the touch. But I guess the texture could also be why her hair holds the curl so well.

Actually, I like the PM wigs better. Especially as far as Felicity is concerned. I think I like the Samantha Mattel wigs better, though.

DH told me to keep her. He thinks I'll regret selling her. I still haven't made up my mind, though....

I'm surprised there are this many differences. I thought the only difference was the hair. I didn't know that a Mattel Lissie had better coloring. I bet more pink/red lips are pretty. I'm going to have to find some pictures.
My lissie is a 1991. She has very red hair and really striking green eyes. She is kind of frizzy though. The hair is thick and hard to brush.
I have also noticed her limbs are loose but that could be age. What scares me is her head seems kind of loose. It seems a little wobbly. She does have rosy cheeks. I can't remember her lips and I'm too lazy to run upstairs and get her. I just remember she has nice color on her cheeks, not pale or colorless

I have been on the search for just the right PM Felicity. I finally got one that I like. She is the exact same age as my DD's Felicity, a 1993 model. She's near mint. The only flaw being that her legs are tiny bit loose. She doesn't have that really red hair, but it is more red than my new one. And she has beautiful eyes, and brown/red eyelashes...Her hair is perfect.

The problem is, I am getting so used to the Mattel faces, that now I like them better! DD looked both dolls over, and pronounced the Mattel face prettier, but the PM hair prettier. I think that's what my problem is. Plus, I think I like the face coloring better on the new dolls. I never thougth I would say that!

I even offered to switch this dolls head with DD's PM Felicity, but she declined. She's just too sentimental.

So, now I have to figure out what to do. I didn't get a bargain on the doll, but I also didn't pay too much for her. I might just dress the PM doll up, and wait a few days to decide. If anyone here is interested in purchasing her, just PM me. If not, she may end up on eBay. I would love to paint her lips. I don't care for the blah color of the pm lissie lips. But I'm too afraid of ruining her value.

What to do...What to do....What to do....

I feel similarly to the PM Felicity I just won on Ebay. She is very beautiful, and I like her hair color better than the Mattel versions, but it is so much harder to take care of. It seems thicker than our other dolls, and not as easy to brush and style. I think her coloring is more bland than the newer dolls. This could be because she is older (93) or just because that is the way she is.

I am thinking of selling her on Ebay also, but I'm torn. Not sure what to do. Everything about her is just about perfect, so why am I not that happy with her?

Yes, I know what you mean. I prefer the hair in the PreMattel doll wigs because it is thicker and if you set it, it holds the curl better. I have only my 1993 Felicity and her legs are and always have been loose, which makes her aggravating to work with during photoshoots. I will never change her coloring because it matches the other dolls I bought at around the same time. But lately I've had this sneaky wish I could get the new Felicity because her facial coloring is really gorgeous. If only they hadn't changed the face mold!

Well folks....I've decided to keep the PM Felicity. I just can't imagine ever finding one is as good of shape as she is in. So...off to eBay with the Mattel one.

I'll post pictures of the PM one when I get a chance.
